Mo’s Prose – Day 351 / Signs of Spring

Day 351 – Friday, April 28, 2017

Signs of Spring

The hummingbirds have backed away;
New buds and flowers growing
Don’t need my sugar-laden juice,
With all that nature flowing

But other frenzied birds are crazed,
With several mouths to feed
I hear their pleading, peeping sounds;
That dire call of need

Now on a walk to get some air,
These instincts all around–
I listened to the moms and pops,
Fly in another round

Then Robin swooped in front of me,
And in his beak a worm
So close I saw the taste of this…
Which made my stomach squirm

Poor fleshy, gooey, slimy thing,
With dirt still clinging tough
So glad I’m not a baby bird,
Who chokes down all that stuff!
