2016 Taxes
I hate taxes,
Especially this year’s.
I’m not a good record-keeper.
This means I must go through
All manor of banking documents,
Looking for deductions
I know are there;
Re-living the whole f-ing year.
I feel numb,
Sick to my stomach.
Remembering each financial toll,
Tied to the emotional ones,
And the oh-so high prices paid.
It’s a bad time to have
A photographic memory.
If there weren’t
So many medical bills,
I’d ignore all of them,
Just to not see those reflections.
But it is funny
How little you spend,
When you can’t get outside,
–For months
I will happily never,
Have enough medical bills
To itemize again…
