Mo’s Prose – Day 295 / Northwesterner

Day 295 – Friday, March 3, 2017

Northwesterner

There is a breed of folk they say, that lives far up Northwest,
And classified –as people go, some of this countries best

What makes this group so special, say? What makes them so unique?
Perhaps it’s their resiliency, that’s makes them magnifique

Although it rains, and rains again, and rain a whole lot more,
Umbrellas stay back in our cars, despite what skies will pour

And just because it’s freezing out, is no excuse for pants,
Shorts and sandals de rigueur, exposing most transplants

We’re pretty calm, we’re even keel, in general, we are chill,
That windshield wiper metronome, acts like a big chill pill

But we have limits, yes we do, and hitting them’s no fun,
About this time we hit the road, in search of warmth and sun

Yes, even all us sodden, in our fungi-filled abodes,
Will finally see our limits, pack the car, and hit the roads!

So grab a coffee on your way, from cute barista sure,
You my friend, have just observed, a true Northwesterner
