Enduring Sun
Enduring sun, you please me so; past Winter’s grasp so long,
I feared you left us, cold and damp, bereft –because you’d gone
But there you’ve crept; horizon’s glow, beneath long-clouded skies,
Purple tendrils filled with gold, revealing practiced lullabies
Fore now you reach us, arms outstretched, expanse across the sea,
And wane until my eyes should droop, yet still persist for me
Preview breadcrumbs strewn for us, of lingering summer lights,
Grateful for your dawdling push of warm and soothing solstice nights
Thank you for your hushed return, caress to sleepy eyes,
Kisses for my weary soul, such wonderful surprise
Faith renewed as ever more, your presence guaranteed,
Answer to my wishful song, oh stay awhile indeed!
